I have IC. Just went thru a month unable to culture bacteria. went thru Keflex (x2 7 day 500mg BID) , Cipro 500mg BID, Rocephin 1GM IM and just finished with Cefuroxime Axetil 500 mg BID x 7 days.
Some cultures grew out bacteria that Keflex should cover. When I was changed over to Cipro the initial lab reading could not pick up bacteria because to many WBC to count. It took me weeks to get into my urologist. I was already DX with IC. My urologist SAID THERE WAS NO WAY THAT I should have continued with SX after the Rocephin IM. He did a culture of my last urine and said there were no bacteria. He thinks all the sx was a bad flair of IC. I explained how I would void and it looked like Puss, not just clowdy.
I first went to my urologist over a year ago and he preformed a Cystoscopy. THAT IS WHEN HE OFFICIALLY DX me with IC. Otherwise the bladder looked healthy. I am NOT a smoker. I could be better at less caffeine from diet soda. I am now on Amotriptoline and hydroxazine which helps some. I was DX with do Fibromyalgia almost 10 years ago.
He now wants to do a Hydrodistention. He said it would be under general anesthesia which I am not a huge fan of . Especially if your infoŕmation can test for organisms not otherwise detectable.
My cell phone number is 515-368-0618. I am a ER/ICU nurse currently working nights. I would love to have someone contact me anout more info on cost, insurance coverage etc. If I don’t answer it is probably because I am sleeping..

    Thank you,

    Shelly
