TESTING OFFERED THROUGH DAN PURSER MD
SPECTRACELL INTRACELLULAR MICRONUTRIENT TESTINGOne of the easiest and most important ways to get a snapshot of your current vitamin levels is through a SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test. Intracellular means that this test looks at all levels of key vitamins and minerals inside your cells, not just the levels in your blood. Looking at these deficiencies gives you an idea of how healthy your cells are and what you need to know to help them get better! Healing cellular deficiencies has amazing overall effects on your body and is the most effective way to start working on your chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, and so much more.
Why use the SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test?
-
SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test provides the most comprehensive nutritional analysis available by measuring functional deficiencies at the cellular level. It is an assessment of how well the body utilizes 31 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites, while conveying the body’s need for these micronutrients that enable the body to produce enzymes, hormones, and other substances essential for proper growth, development, and good health. Your test results also include food and supplement recommendations based on reported levels.
-
Intracellular
-
What truly makes this test unique is that it measures the functional level and capability of micronutrients present within white blood cells, where metabolism takes place and where micronutrients do their job—thus taking a person’s biochemical individuality into account. Unlike static serum measurements, which only assess the concentration of nutrients present outside of the cell (extracellular) and only provide a glimpse of your health, SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test is a long-term assessment (4-6 months) that addresses the functional impact (performance) of micronutrients.
-
-
Why is nutrient status important?
-
Virtually all metabolic and developmental processes that take place in the body require micronutrients. Strong evidence suggests that subtle vitamin, mineral, and antioxidant deficiencies can contribute to degenerative processes such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
-
Therefore, evaluating micronutrient status can be the first step in identifying metabolic inadequacies while shedding light on the possible underlying causes of complex chronic conditions.
-
GENETIC TESTING
SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test looks at current vitamin and mineral levels, but genetic testing looks at what may be causing these deficiencies. Your genes code for sequences of amino acids that are put together to form proteins. Some of these become enzymes that are the workbench catalysts of our cells adding and taking away from molecules.
Sometimes genes are passed on that may have errors leading to less efficient enzymatic activity creating problems. A common set of genes with errors are the genes connected to the methylation enzyme called MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase). The purpose of the MTHFR enzyme is to convert folate (Vitamin B9) into the methylated form that is then used in the energy production cycles of the cell. Less efficient enzymes cause less energy output to power the cell leading to overall systemic inefficiencies.
Obtaining your genetic results is a great way to know where to start supplementing with key vitamins and minerals to support your enzyme activity and bypass parts of the methylation cycles. Everyone's a little different so understanding the blueprints of your genetics helps you know what to focus on and that is how our practice can help you all along the way!
Foundation Methylation Genetic Kit and MTHFR Gene Variations
The Foundation Methylation Genetic Kit is designed to look for the specific SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms) that control the production of the MTHFR enzyme and determine what deficiencies may be causing them.
Everyone receives one copy of the MTHFR gene from each parent. This means a person could have any one of the following combinations as well as the issues that go with it:
-
Normal / C677T (referred to as Heterozygous)
-
More susceptible to neuro-immune syndromes, environmental damage, depression, central nervous system issues, etc.
-
-
Normal / A1298C (referred to as Heterozygous)
-
More susceptible to neuro-immune syndromes, environmental damage, depression, central nervous system issues, etc.
-
-
A1298C / A1298C (referred to as Homozygous) - Denoted as 1298CC
-
Much worse for the above problems
-
-
C677T / C677T (referred to as Homozygous) - Denoted as 677TT
-
Similar to 1298CC plus heart disease, blood clots, and more
-
-
C677T / A1298C (referred to as Compound Heterozygous)
-
Susceptible to all of the above and worse for strokes, heart disease, blood clots, etc.
-
Some of the common symptoms we see with MTHFR Genetic Errors are:
- Dopamine Deficiency Symptoms
- Serotonin Deficiency Symptoms
- Mood Disorders
- Chronic Fatigue
- Immune Disorders
- Detoxification Weakness
If these sound like something you struggle with, order your kit today and start feeling better!
Pro7 Comprehensive Genetic Testing
Our Pro7 Comprehensive Genetic testing and report covers everything from our Foundation Methylation Genetic Kit and much more. The Pro7 Comprehensive Genetic testing covers seven specific areas of health: (1) Methylation, (2) Neurotransmitter Processing, (3) Mitochondrial Function, (4) Detoxification, (5) Neuro-Inflammatory Potential, (6) External Inflammatory Potential, and (7) Health Precautions.
This test looks at 55 gene variants for SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms). The MTHFR variations listed above are a great example of one part of this test. By having just one amino acid out of place or swapped for another, the efficiency of those enzymes can vary drastically. Looking at the genes that cover the seven areas of health above can provide profound insight into your health and wellbeing.
The point of genetic testing like this is to know what specific areas to focus your nutritional guidance both by eating certain foods and supplementing with the correct versions of key vitamins and minerals. Genetic testing with a SpectraCell Intracellular Micronutrient test will give you the greatest insight into what your cells are craving now.
